Amanda and Ken’s Sydney Royal Botanic Gardens wedding may have been the most rain-filled wedding I have had the honour to photograph, but at the same time it was also one of the most love-filled ones. Amanda and Ken’s story is so unique and awe-inspiring: Amanda is Canadian and Ken is from Sydney. They have been in a long distance relationship for five years and they even have a beautiful, beautiful daughter together! Wow!!! I have been in a long distance relationship with an Australian as well, but only for two years until I married him and moved to Sydney. Let me tell you, it’s hard work! And that’s without children involved. I’m just in awe of Amanda and Ken and their love for each other, holding strong over such a long distance.
They got married during a beautiful, intimate outdoor ceremony in the Royal Botanic Gardens in the center of Sydney. The rain stopped just for the ceremony and the sun even showed itself for a while. Just as the ceremony was over the rain started up again. We took the bride and groom photographs with the Opera House in the backdrop and I actually love the reflections the rain creates in the images. It somehow all worked out in the end. What a beautiful wedding day for Amanda and Ken!
