So many impressions, where should I even start?!
As some of you might know, I have been traveling the Pacific Northwest, British Columbia in Canada and Alaska between June and July. Only now I can begin to process everything. The U.S felt like a whole planet by itself the whole time we were there. Europe and Australia seemed like tiny irrelevant specs on the world-map in comparison to the U.S. The vast wilderness of Canada still takes my breath away now whenever I think back of our adventures there.
Of course I have been busy snapping away on my DSLR camera during the whole time and there is so much to tell you! I thought sharing my Instagram snaps would be a good start.

We started our trip in San Francisco at the famous painted sisters – famous set of “Full House”.

Despite our jet lag and a long day in San Francisco we pushed on to Chinatown in San Francisco.

We ended our day by rushing to the Golden Gate Bridge in an Uber to capture sunset in San Francisco. We were super lucky, as the bridge usually disappears in the fog that seems to just sit there in the bay during the summer months.

Street-art in the Mission District in San Francisco. That’s where the creative scene, bars and restaurants are.

Best classic fast food burgers I ever had. In & Out Burger San Carlos on the way to…

…Yosemite National Park. So many waterfalls and squirrels…

Napa Valley. This was interesting to see for me as a wedding photographer since this is a famous area for people from the bay area to get married. Beautiful, certainly.I envy Californian wedding photographers!

The North Californian coast. Breathtaking – the whole way!

Up on a volcano at Crater Lake in Oregon. Of all the scenarios we imagined for our summer holidays to happen, falling snow wasn’t one of them.

Crater Lake with its deep clear blue water. Easy the prettiest landscape I’ve ever seen.

That same day – back at the coast!

View from our tent in the Redwoods Forest in California. It was freezing cold but beautiful. Not being used to lush green forests in Australia, we loved our campground.

After camping for the most part of the preceding 10 days and bad coffee on the road in sleepy coastal towns we really did appreciate our coffee in Portland – Oregon.

Powell’s in Portland claims to be the biggest independent book shop in the world. At least it is the biggest I’ve ever seen. A paradise for an avid reader like me.

Crater Lake on a poster for Powell’s.

A famous Voodoo doughnut. For me this was a sugar overkill. I personally prefer my German Apple-strudel.

St John’s Bridge in Portland. If you’re interested in architecture it’s worth checking out. If not, hm…

Voodoo Doughnut’s shop. An overkill just as the doughnuts. Not a place for people who prefer simplistic things, but it makes for a happy photo.

Fancy dessert in Vancouver, Canada. Canada felt like a whole other world compared to the U.S.

moose head in traditional roadside Inn in the British Columbian mountains.

Beautiful sunset at. Bowron Lake in B.C., Canada. After 5 days on a canoe we had to say goodbye again to Canada.

Canoeing the Bowron Lake Circuit. Who can spot the moose?

The famous Ferris wheel in Seattle. This big city was a shock for us after the quiet wilderness of British Columbia two days before.

Pike’s Place Markets in Seattle. My mouth starts watering just thinking of the bright orange wild salmon sandwiches and clam chowder we ate there. So much tastiness in one place!

We’re enjoying the view and sunset over Seattle.

After three weeks of being at different places almost every day we had some spare time in Seattle to read a book. “And I darken” is an alternate YA historical fiction novel that is set in the Ottoman empire (I find the history of that time and place extremely fascinating) and it re-imagines Vlad the Impaler as a kick-ass cruel girl.

On a hike we got sidetracked and picked blueberries (yes, ate them too). So much fun!

I loved the wild and misty Alaskan landscape.

Seward Highway near Anchorage. Mountains that come right to the ocean with snow on them.

Flying along the Alaskan coast on our way to Anchorage.

Back in San Francisco for our last days of the trip.

Beautiful Mexican food in Sausalito on a bicycle trip across the Golden Gate Bridge.

This is Sydney at Sunrise on the way back. Who can spot the Opera House? 🙂
