I know, it’s part of your mundane every-day life and I am sure you think it’s boring but I looooooove sunrises in Sydney.
First, the tremendous noise of native bird chirping that throws you out of bed at five in the morning, especially groups of kookaburras in the bush, is quite impressive to say the least. When I say “I love this” it’s without being sarcastic. If I wake up by the sound of a kookaburra I’m always getting a little excited: “that’s right. I really live here now! How good is that?!”
Second, I love sunrises over the ocean. I was born less than 25 km north the alps. The size of the ocean, the flat line of the horizon so far away,… I can’t help but still feel humble when I see it (unfortunately not from my Newtown home office). I always feel the need to reach out my arms and take a deep breath in. Of course I never do it because it would reveal me as the South German tourist I still am sometimes (and because it’s so corny).
