For me, one of the highlights of living in the Inner West are the Marrickville Organic Food Markets. They are on each Sunday on Addison road. I love the relaxed atmosphere there. People sit on the grass enjoying their food, couples and families spend time together and friends meet to catch up over a organic coffee and sweet pastry slices. Directly at the entrance of the markets in a tent you can get the tastiest corn fritter plates in the city. Next to that is a stand that sells refreshing juices and smoothies in all variations. As you keep walking you pass street musicians who instantly get you in a good mood and provide for a chilled out happy sunny Sunday morning atmosphere. If you want to get your groceries done, you can buy fresh vegetables, fruit and even meats and fish at the markets. The traders are real farmers who travel all the way from the countryside to sell their product. But the Organic Food Markets have a lot more to offer than just food: Every week new things can be discovered. The market stands are never exactly the same. That makes it worth stopping by more than once to not miss out on new random lovely things. Usually the stands vary from old records and books to unique clothing and interesting artworks of all kind.
Next to the markets is a building full of random artwork supply stuff (rubbish in probably most people’s eyes). In fact it is called “Reverse Garbage”. It is definitely worth to go and check it out inside. Who knows what you might find inside?
